This course explores the literary and archaeological evidence for the establishment of the House of David, which is central to our biblical story. In the Books of Samuel, we will look at the attitudes the authors had toward kingship and how they depicted David. As a counterpoint, we will explore the historical and archaeological evidence for the monarchy in ancient Israel and Judah.
