Hebrew Poetry as a Guide Through Challenging Times
Wed / Begins Feb 4 / 6 sessions / 7:00 pm / 87th Street and Online
Rabbi Wendy Zierler, Ph.D
How can Hebrew poetry and Israel culture serve as a bulwark and resource in times of grief and loss? Zierler’s memoir, Going Out with Knots: My Two Kaddish Years with Hebrew Poetry, shares her story of the death of both her parents in one year, her personal mourning journey, and how she turned to modern Hebrew poetry as a way to process grief, faith, and ritual participation. Students will explore how Hebrew poetry can respond deeply to both communal tragedies as well as personal losses, offering a new form of theology and Torah.
