This transaction takes effect Wednesday, April 1, at 11:55 am and will be in effect for the duration of Pesach. Hametz sold through PAS should not be eaten until 10:00 pm on Thursday, April 9.

Ma'ot Hittin Donation

Although in other sales, the seller receives money, in this one, it is customary for the seller to make a donation, called ma’ot hittin, “money for wheat,” which will be used to support Jews who cannot afford matzah and other necessities for the holiday. At Park Avenue Synagogue, these donations go to the Welfare Fund and are used year-round to support Jews in need.
