Kings and Kingship in Ancient IsraelWed / Oct 14 / 10 sessions / 7:00-8:30 pm / 87th Street and Online
Dr. Ed Silver
What makes a king? How does a king's power differ from and overlap with other forms of leadership, and how does it relate to divine authority? Where did this practice originate, and how was it developed among the ancient Israelites? Study the biblical literature, archaeological evidence, and comparative ancient Near Eastern sources to understand how the monarchy, as an institution, developed in ancient Israel and Judah.
